Build real companies, not pitch decks.
We scout unique talent across European universities and technical communities: proof of work, hackathon wins, scholarships, open-source contributions, shipped projects. Portugal’s graduate outflow is one strong pipeline, not the boundary. We are scaling from 20 to 45 people this year.
Talent in Lisbon is a structural advantage. For us, it is a moat.
Europe’s strongest technical talent is concentrated where few companies can afford to hire it. Lisbon is the exception: world-class universities, a deep and growing engineering pool, operating costs at a fraction of London, Berlin, or Amsterdam, and a quality of life that keeps people once they join. In Portugal the advantage is even sharper: the graduates the country loses to emigration every year are exactly the people our system is built to reach first.
Our pipeline is not a job board. It is a scouting system built on personal connections inside universities across Europe, proof-of-work signals, and a structured trainee program that develops engineers into operators. We do not wait for talent to apply. We know where it is before it moves. This is how three ventures are built and run by a team our Northern European competitors could not afford to assemble, and could not keep if they did.
The fundamentals.
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Talent outflow | Portugal loses roughly 30% of its top graduates annually: one strong pipeline among many. We recruit across Europe, proof of work over credentials. |
| Cost structure | Lisbon operating costs are a fraction of London, Berlin, or Amsterdam. We invest the difference in talent development and systems. |
| Deep tech pool | IST, Nova, and international programs produce world-class engineers and data scientists, and the pool keeps growing. |
| Quality of life | Climate, culture, and cost of living mean people stay once they join. Retention is built on environment, not just compensation. |
We hire AI-native leaders, not just technical experts.
The people who win in the AI era are not necessarily the deepest coders. They are the best at leveraging technology through systems thinking and human judgment. We scout for five traits:
Systems thinkers and first-principles operators
You break down complex systems, see the interconnections, and redesign workflows end to end. You treat an organization as a composable system of humans and agents.
Outcome owners and orchestrators
You own outcomes, not tasks. You set goals, direct fleets of agents, monitor performance, and course-correct. A manager of intelligence, not a producer of output.
High judgment
Taste, empathy, resilience, and strategic sense. You know when to keep a human in the loop, which matters where our outputs carry liability.
Agent operators
You translate business problems into executable agent systems: playbooks, tools, context, memory. You build hybrid human plus AI teams.
Learning-obsessed
You combine domain depth with AI fluency and never stop. Business acumen and implementation skill over pure coding.
How we see it: proof of work, not credentials. Hackathon wins, scholarships, open-source contributions, shipped projects, or anything you built that shows these traits in action.
Backgrounds we recruit from: computer science, software engineering, data and AI, robotics, full-stack development, computer vision, business development, marketing, growth marketing, digital analytics.
Most companies train you for a role. We train you to build companies.
| Cadence | Session | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | First-principles workshops | Group sessions decomposing real problems from our live ventures, identifying root causes, rebuilding from fundamentals. |
| Monthly | AI tooling sprints | Hands-on testing of emerging AI tools, automation frameworks, and data pipelines. What works gets integrated into the Company OS. |
| Quarterly | Systems-thinking intensives | Deep dives into venture architecture, feedback loops, and scaling mechanics, offsite, with senior advisors and cross-venture teams. |
Mentorship comes from a senior advisor network: former regulators, exited PropTech operators, and international real estate professionals. A dedicated AI systems team runs the tooling program and certifies new workflows before they spread across ventures. People who have done the work, not people who talk about it.
What you get.
Real equity
Significant vested equity in the ventures you help build, tied to real outcomes. Skaler acts as active co-founder with every operator we bring on.
Real responsibility
You will own features, products, or entire ventures. We hire for capability and give you the runway to prove it, from week one.
Real systems
The Company OS gives you proven infrastructure from day one: research, recruitment, marketing, sales, and capital allocation. You focus on building.
Real impact
Your work directly shapes companies professionalizing one of Europe’s most fragmented real estate markets. Measurable, visible outcomes.
From scout to owner.
01
Scout
We find you through university pipelines, open-source work, or direct outreach. Proof of work, not resumes.
02
Validate
A structured challenge that tests systems thinking and first-principles approach. Real work, not a whiteboard interview.
03
Build
You join a venture team with real responsibility from week one, supported by the Company OS, advisors, and weekly growth sessions.
04
Own
As you prove capability, you gain equity, leadership scope, and eventually the opportunity to co-found your own venture within Skaler.
